Training
It is all reading and one practice call. There is no exam.
Start with the user guide, it covers turning the radio on, making a call, and what to say.
Sessions are held periodically at local halls. Email [email protected] to ask when the next one is and to be told about the ones after it.
On a practice day, 6pm to 7pm, turn your radio on and make a call. The skill you want in an emergency is the one you’ve already used a hundred times.
The guides are not on the website yet. Email the committee and we will send you the current copies, and print them. In a real emergency the website may be the thing that is down.
